to statistics from the MLS (Multiple Listing Service), the median sales
price (island wide) of a single family home went from $655,000 in June
2007 to $687,500 in June 2008 - a 4.96% increase. The Hanalei district
saw a 1.69% increase from $885K in 6/07 to $900K in 6/08. The Koloa
district saw a 40.08% increase in single-family home median prices
(from $642,500 in June '07 to $900,000 in June '08). When reviewing the
median price for residential home sales for the last 12 months, there
were decreases in Lihue
(from $547,000 in 6/07 to $410K in 6/08), Kawaihau (from $621,250 in
6/07
to $467,500 in 6/08, and Waimea (from $487,500 in 6/07 to $352,500 in
6/08).
The median
price of condominiums (island wide) also increased from $572,500 in
June 2007 to
$670,000 in June 2008.
